O jogador que actua no terceiro escalão inglês (Oldham) encheu o campo, bem apoiado por Mahlangu, deixando os consagrados Tshabalala e Letsholonyane no banco, em contraponto com uma Angola desconexa, onde Geraldo faz um jogo aparte, demasiado individual, Lunguinha é demasiado ofensivo para lateral direito, especialmente se não tem cobertura e apoio do médio ala, ficando uma imagem interessante de Pirolito, que pode evoluir para um médio de qualidade, dos centrais (Dany Massunguna e Bastos) e de Miguel Quiaimi na lateral esquerda.

Great disappointment in Group B with DR Congo showing little to nothing against Niger, 0-0, where individuality overcame the amazing show of team play in the 2-2 against Ghana. Ghana that beat Mali 1-0, in another match where only the goal counted againt a team with the defensive midfield 'trivote', only thinking backwards. However, it should be noted the handball outside the area from the goalie Dauda, that should have left Ghana with 10 players in the first minutes of the match, it was decisive.

Depois de um primeiro jogo extremamente atractivo, a Etiópia afundou-se com a prematura lesão de Adane Girma na segunda partida, cedendo por 0-4 ante o Burkina Faso, um resultado exagerado mas que demonstra a falta de um 'maestro' numa equipa, notando-se uma enorme quebra física dos etíopes na segunda parte. Com duas baixas para o terceiro jogo, os etíopes deixam, pelo menos, o perfume do seu futebol e o facto de terem colocado em sentido o detentor do troféu.
After a very entertaining first match, Ethiopia sunk with the premature injury of Adane Girma against Burkina Faso, caving 0-4, too big of a result but a proof that a 'maestro' is needed in a team. The 'Walya' also 'blew up' physically in the second half. A Zãmbia voltou a estar abaixo do esperado no segundo jogo, um empate a um com a Nigéria. Renard alterou algumas peças, colocando Mayuka a titular e cambiando as laterais, mas nota-se um capitão Katongo fora de forma, tendo a equipa subido de rendimento com a sua saída e a entrada de Mulenga e Sakuwaha. O herói foi, contudo, Mweene. O guarda-redes 'Chipolopolo' defendeu quase tudo e ainda apontou a grande penalidade que ofereceu o empate aos campeões em título.
Zambia was again below the expected, drawing at one with Nigeria. Renard changed some players, giving start to Mayuka and changing the side backs, but we can see a captain Katongo clearly out of shape, having the team played much better after his substitution, with Mulenga and Sakuwaha. The hero was however Mweene. The 'Chipolopolo' goalie stopped almost everything and scored the penalty that gave the tie to the title owners.
